|In preparation for its performance at the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival, and as a “thank you” to all of its supporters in Contra Costa County and beyond, Los Medanos College will present a free performance of its nationally recognized production of August Wilson’s Pulitzer Prize winning play Fences.
The performance will take place on Feb. 12, at 7 p.m., at the beautifully renovated California Theatre in Pittsburg, CA.Fences tells the story of Troy Maxson, a sanitation worker and former Negro Leagues baseball star, who because of personal circumstances and racial discrimination, never gets a chance to play in the major leagues. The play earned Wilson the 1987 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and won James Earl Jones a Tony Award for Best Actor.
